I accidentally took night time flu medicine with alcohol in it. I experienced no cravings, but I got migraine headaches that felt like a hangover/withdrawal the next day. In early sobriety, I might have experienced cravings, but I took a small dosage and also have been sober for nearly 6 years. Because of the migraines, I looked at the ingredients more carefully and saw there is alcohol in it. Has anyone else done this, and if so did you experience migraines or other symptoms?
A year or two ago, my wife brought home some cough medicine for a bad cold ... we're usually careful 'bout that kind of stuff ... however, one of the lead'n brands had alcohol in it and it slipped past us ... it certainly helped my cold and cough, but it made me kind of loopy so I went and read the ingredients and sure enough, alcohol ... low percentage, but enough to have an effect ... so I stuck with 'Zinc' lozenges and Advil ... no side effects from the other, other than a little woozy which I simply 'slept' off ...
It'd been nearly 6 years for me then, so I didn't suffer any other ill effects ... but it was a good lesson learned on just how much stuff actually has alcohol in it ... and how careful we should be ... I did go back to bake'n with real vanilla and red cook'n wine with no ill effects(after first 3 or 4 years) ... and as long as I maintain my conscious contact with God, and my AA program, I have been relieved of the crave'n for alcohol ... have'n a tad in food doesn't seem to bother me at all ... now ...
Love ya and God Bless, Pappy

I have never taken cough medicine with alcohol in it. That's because people warned about that issue.
I found a cough medicine that is alcohol-free for the few times I need it.
