On a cold December 2nd morning in 1984,I came to in a farmhouse in Rhinebeck New York, from another drug induced evening and finally rose to my knees asking for mercy and admitting I was an addict and I was progressing in a state of devastation and disaster since early 1959...I was 6 months into my 3rd marriage and was watching it all fall apart again.Through the God of my understandings grace and mercy, daily work in the Solution, the application of the 12 Steps of Recovery in all areas of my life, I celebrate, humbly, today in gratitude for another day of uninterrupted freedom from active drug addiction,31 years CLEAN ,a day at a time, after more than a quarter century caught in the grip. I am now living a life better than I had ever known before(even though I was only 11 when my plumment on the downbound train to oblivion began, progressing rapidly to the final ends..jails .instituitions ,deriliction and on deaths doorstep. Please join me in thought and prayer for all those who continue to suffer from active addiction and know there is a Message of Hope and a promise of freedom available for those who will do whatever it takes to remain free from this horrible illness..It begins by putting down the substance and getting to the exact nature of whats going on inside, remaining in a fit spiritual condition and givng back,to the best of ones ability to those still struggling daily. To many of my posse who didn't make it through the storm,I spend this day in memory and reflection of God's Grace(the unmerited favor bestowed on this ole hardhead)In support and always in Prayer...smile emoticonhttp://seekingserenitytacoma.com//upl/2015/05/IMG_0842.jpg

Big congrats on 31 years ... that is a big inspiration to me, and others, I'm sure ... no matter what happens in life, we don't need to drink or drug, we can face anything with the right 'spiritual connection' ...
Happy sober Birthday Mike ...
Love you brother and God Bless, Pappy
