Joe and Charlie tapes

I have been listening to Part One of the Joe and Charlie tapes. I listened to at least the Part One of these earlier on. This one has a glitch --keeps going to what Utube refers to an "Ad" and this guy (Joe???? Charlie????) cuts in and talks about alcoholism...not selling anything...just cannot figure out why he keeps interrupting the Joe/Charlie audio. I may have to pull out my notebook for this one..biggrin

Ok....they are advertising recovery facilities...they even mentioned what city I am in....how they have me "bugged" I am not sure. Someone may find a better link with no commercial interruptions.

I never did finish listening to all of Part One of the Joe and Charlie tapes. Darn it! All those commericials and that sober guy which would come on out of nowhere from his living room (or someone's living room) and have his own little "share" going. I don't know if that was Joe, I don't know if it was Charlie. The one I was listening to doesn't show any people. I do know that by the fifth time it happened and I realized that the guy was repeating himself over and over that maybe God wanted me to hear this message he was saying. When I finish the tape tomorrow, if he suddenly "disappears" that is going to freak me out!

 

Joe and Charlie took turns talking about the Big Book. Boy, those guys are good! They have a way about them which makes you want to listen. I learned so many new things today. They're funny, too, and humor does help.
Like one thing I learned which I feel like I should know already....(sometimes quickly ....I am the sometimes "slowly" part of that...)is this....I always thought that someone who is a heavy drinker and drank like me was an alcoholic. Not true. Now I can better understand someone I know who hasn't worked the Steps and is still staying sober for years is doing it. That person drank like a fish just like me. I did start thinking that maybe that person is not alcoholic to be able to stay sober this long without those Steps. I even questioned if they were being totally honest about staying sober as long as they have. Anyway, I know, I know....only the individual person can answer that one. (Sigh....where's my broom?)

Another thing is that spiritual awakening thing. What happened to Bill W. was a spiritual occurrence which happened fast. A spiritual awakening is something that takes a good while to happen. (I kept looking for those white lights and thought something was wrong with me.)


Anyway, I gotta stop here and get back to work. Gotta make money to pay the bills. (Darn it!)
I had "had enough" of that tape when a commercial for a well known facial care industry played. (And we all know how important skin care is when we are trying to stay sober. disbelief

I made copies of all the 'Joe and Charlie' tapes ... I think they're still in a box somewhere in the house ... (since we moved a year and a half ago ...) ...If I can find enough time where I feel good enough to spend some time on the computer, I'll try to find the site I copied them off of ... Or, if I find my cd's, I'll mail them to ya ...

(Still having health issues ... please be patient ...)

Have not found them yet ... (still hot in the attic ...) ...

I made it a habit to loan them to everyone I sponsored when I was in Georgia ... Now that we've been here in Tennessee for a year and a half, I'm not real sure I got all my CD's back before I left ... but I still haven't made it through all the boxes yet ... ... ... AND, I just remembered, I had a major 'crash' on the computer I used to copy those tapes with and the addresses I used to have are now gone ... someone here should have all that handy ... and if they post the sites where old tapes can be pulled up, I need to copy those too ... (just don't feel like trying to track them down right now ... gotta go ...) ...

Hey H1, ... I found a site that has all the "Joe & Charlie" tapes ... just click on which tape and you're off and running ... ... ...

Not sure if it has commercials in the middle of it or not, but you should be able to FF thru those I would think ... if they're there ...
