I am making an effort he said through clenched teeth.
I told you to empty yourself of EMOTION
Yeah, I'm finding that hard at the moment Harry snarled
Then you will find yourself easy prey for the dark side.
Fools who wear their hearts proudly on their sleeves, who cannot control their emotions, who wallow in sad memories and allow themselves to be provoked so easily..WEAK PEOPLE The dark powers will penetrate your mind with absurd ease....Master yourself, control your anger, discipline your Mind....from Harry Potter PG.474...Return of the Phoenix
I remember an AA speakers meeting 35 years ago at St. Jerome's in Largo Fl. Farther Joe Martin, in my opinion, a giant in AA.. noted for his documentary Chalk talk....I remember as if yesterday...."You cannot control your emotions...but you can control your thoughts...and your thoughts are responsible for your emotions.. " Great advice...fits right in..
Never go to bed upset...clear your mind of any emotion...pray, meditate..empty unsettling thoughts, problems...Give your subconcious mind clear sailing for an untroubled night's sleep...the only way to deal with anger and resentments is: NOT GET ANGRY>>>NOT GET RESENTFUL......Take it from experience , That stuff is right on
My sobriety is Contingent on my spiritual well being...just for today.
Thank you for sharing this great reminder of keeping the peace within! It's so easy to get caught up in emotions and lose track of logic. Keeping myself peaceful on the inside makes life so much nicer. Sobriety makes me so much more aware of my emotions and I have to put more effort into keeping things in perspective. I use alcohol to cloud unpleasant emotions, now I have to face them, like it or not!
