That power greater than myself is very good to me. Aside from the modem going out, things are starting to get a lot busier.

Being the type of drunk I was, I had many different types of jobs and got basic experiance in several different fields. Most of them were construction and manual labor.

A week or so ago a couple called and asked if I cold do some remodeling. For curiosity, I checked out what they wanted done. They have about 4 feet extra space in the garage and want to enlarge the batroom and laundry room.

When they asked me if it could be done, I said anything's possible and they gave me the job.

I'm real good about tearing things out and cleaning up the mess. Most of what I ever had a part in building, other people came behind me and covered it up.

I also found out I still have the capacity to learn.

The water plumbing is copper and I have never worked copper before. Wouldn't you know it, The first mistake I made was breaking a water line. it wasn't even Friday and I was getting a great shower. After turning off the water and drying up, i headed off to the library and looked up " how to install copper tubing." The repair worked and my confidence level went up a notch.

Now I have to study building archways and installing ceramic tile.

I find it is not so much of a job that it's engulfing and is very soothing getting into that creative zone.

I have missed you all and perhaps now I can get back to being involved here again.

Your brother in AA, Chris B.

I've never done remodeling for dollars, but have always been a "do-it-yourself-er" around home for years.  Sounds like quite a project.  Good luck with it, and I hope you have fun "gittin er dun"!

hey  Chris

Don't take this wrong.

A contractor friend of mine said If u need to learn how to do something, do it at someone else's house. Then if u have to do it in your own home you'll be good at it.

At least your studying and want to do a good job.  I'm a handy man.  I learnd a lot at my rental property.  Some things I just won't do home.  Hire those more fit.

Take care
