Recently moved to liverpool about a year ago now to start fresh from all my bad habbits and to clear my head after a attemptd suicide fail after breaking up with my ex .. i have always told my self i can stop drinking where ever i like but its clear i cant .. i work shifts so on my four days off work i will isolate my self from freinds and family and will just drink till i pass out i didnt think i had a problem but recent events prove that i do .. ive become very unsociable avoiding all social contact even with that live in diffrent parts of the UK i feel very alone if im not drinking .. where can i get help? thank you for your time
Robert, welcome first off. Your story is not unlike where most of us were at when we started in AA. You may find help at any local AA meeting in your area. We may have some members here from the Liverpool area. I know one of our former moderators was from there and she had/has a very strong program with many meetings she attended. I suggest just going to a meeting and starting from there. It was not apparent to me how much my alcoholism interfered with my mental health, relationship functioning, and all other areas. For me, AA was the turning point in which I got sober and stopped suffering through life and started living it and enjoying it instead. It (and sobriety) was the missing piece and what allowed me to obtain the happiness, improved coping skills, and the life I thought I was gipped out of or denied by God. In AA, I learned all sorts of things about how my drinking and my self-sabotaging behaviors were what really stopped me from a better life. So...I urge you to check out face to face AA meetings in your area.

Welcome to the forum, R1991. Thanks for being so honest. We have many similar stories here. If you are a drinker who cannot stop, you do need help. I could not stop drinking by myself. I tried but couldn't do it. I needed help and I got it by going to a rehab program and AA. I learned how to stop drinking and to cope with life without the drink.
Most of us here are AA members. AA is one pathway to sobriety. There are other pathways.
