Makes me think of AA. As people who have been spiritually obliterated while we were drinking and worshipping the alcohol god, so many of us (I'm learning!) are able to heal with so much spiritual strength and understanding when we get sober, start doing the right thing, and turn our lives over to our HP (I'm calling mine the AA God for now). I used to think of myself as deeply spiritual when I was drinking, but now am learning that faith in sobriety takes a whole new level of strength, and certainly one that I would never have had if I didn't hit rock bottom and turn to God to save me.
