One of the things that hit me recently, reading AS Bill Sees it The statement Guilt is the other side of the ruinous
Guilt aims at self destruction. Pride aims at the destruction of others..
So guilt is the reason why so many people feel insecure or display inferiority. Then I realized forget it.. just go about and quietly get your work doneThat s the road to humility, the way, probably the only way, out of the hole of guilt and inferiority..
I think why guilt is on the opposite side of pride is that whereas guilt, as stated aims at self destruction Pride aims at the destruction of others.WOW did that hit memean people with bad tempers Then it hit me that a lot of people who appear nice.. are covering up PrideWOW look at me.. They do look at them.. but they see themselves not as others may salute them.so they get depressed...and see no way out of that box they are in...and sometimes even commit suicide The way outquietly go about doing your work as given out to you by God.Dont listen to the chorus of your own mind. Pray and meditate and listen to GodGod can be found in the 12 Steps and at meetings as well as other places if you look. Thats the advice I give Myself.
Great share and welcome. I like that passage and the book "As Bill Sees It." I'm glad your recovery was aided by it too. I have been told by others that that book doesn't help anyone in sobriety and reading it in meetings will result in newcomers dying but I don't buy that of course.

Welcome Amigo! Glad to have you hear with us! Thank you for sharing. I like the book "As Bill Sees It". It's a great resource- at the back of the book it list topics in alphabetical order. Simply find a topic that interest you and the cooresponding page numbers are listed.
A.A. is a magnificent reality indeed. It not only breathes new life into our weary souls, but it also gives us a new direction that can stand both time and pressure. It's something none of us can ignore even if we tried. Thanks for reminding me. Onward.

By coincidence I was reading today about Bill W.'s depiction of the pride/guilt relationship. Glad you posted that, Amigo.
I also like As Bill Sees It a lot. The excerpts are from several AA literature sources: the BB, AA Comes of Age, AA Grapevine, AA's Twelbe Concepts, Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions and personal letters by Bill W.These sources of thoughts, explanations, principles and values are indispensible to AA'S seeking to better understand AA and its program as actually practiced both before and after the BB was published in 1939.
Reading from the various sources is beneficial to anyone in AA, including newcomers. For someone to say that these unambiguously important sources or ABSI kill people is a very bizarre and extremist attack on much of AA's published wisdom.

I can't imagine that either Tanin....Let me ask you a question. You seem well read. Which source did this come from?
In general, the steps of AA don't have to be done in order but it is difficult to proceed by skipping Step One. But that might be worth trying. Maybe go to Step Two.
The reason I ask...Is this has me scratching my head....I've never heard it before.
