AA meetings in Ecuador

Hi all,

Well it's that time of year again and I'll be heading off on my annual trip to some new country. This time it's Ecuador. I'll be spending about three weeks traveling through the Andes mountains from Quito to Cuenca, via some small mountain towns and villages along the way. I have located an English speaking meeting in Quito, where I'll start the trip, but I probably won't be able to get to that one due to location and schedule. Good news is I have also located English speaking meetings in Cuenca, where I'll be at the end of the trip, and they happen every day at noon (plus Monday evening) just a couple of blocks from where I'll be staying. No luck yet finding meetings in the smaller towns between Quito and Cuenca.

If anybody knows of meetings located in the southern end of Quito, in the 'Old Town', please let me know.

I'll be here for another week and then I'll be gone from Monday 9/8 to Sunday 9/28.

Looking back to the days before the internet, it seems amazing that I have almost always been able to find meetings in far away places. It sure is easier now!

Hi All! I'm back from Ecuador! The trip was amazing! I'll put some of the better photos up on Flickr in a few days and post a link here. I found a great English speaking AA group in the old section of Cuenca and got to a couple of meetings there. I also stumbled upon an AA club house in a tiny remote mountain town called Sig Sig, a couple of hours by bus from Cuenca. The place was closed at the time, but it was still really cool to find their sign in front of the place. I'll be sure to post a picture of it once I get the images out of the camera. Gotta get some sleep after the long flights(s) home. I'll post again soon.

There is an English speaking AA meeting in Cotacachi on Wednesdays from 1:45-2:45 pm. The building is on the corner of 10 de Agosto ("Leather Street") and Simon Bolivar. Enter on Simon Bolivar, about 1/3 the way down the street (make a left onto Simon Bolivar from 10 de Agosto - they are both one-way streets). There is a gate that goes into a courtyard next to the Hostal entrance. Go up the stairs on the right hand side. At the second floor go through the gate, turn left. The meeting room is at the end of the hall. The gates are often not unlocked until just before the meeting. We are glad to welcome travelers and new-comers.
