"Throughout the world AAs are twelfth-stepping with thousands of new prospects a month. Between one and two thousand of these stick on our first presentation; past experience shows that most of the remainder will come back to us later on. Almost entirely unorganized, and completely nonprofessional, this mighty spiritual current is now flowing from alcoholics who are well to those who are sick. One alcoholic talking to another; that's all."
I believe it is more than just one alcoholic talking to another.
When an alcoholic talks to another out of pure concern for the other, it is an act of unconditional love.
This type of love becomes a channel between my understanding of a God and the alcoholic who still suffers.
During a twelve-step call, it is amazing what we say sometimes.
As a drunk, I often say the wrong thing to the wrong person at the wrong time.
During a twelve step call, it is often the other way around, as if it is not my wisdom being spoken.
"...That probably no human power could have relieved our alcoholism. That God could and would if He were sought." (AA, p.60)
Step twelve asks us to become faithful servants.
