"If we are painstaking about this phase of our development, we will be amazed before we are half way through."

The words, painstaking, development and amazed were words that caught my attention in early recovery. They spoke of growth. AA is all about growth and I realised that if I sincerely embarked on theses steps, I also would grow. But the amends steps of 8 & 9 were truly amazing. Here was a confrontation step with others and I never liked that. It took courage and lot's of help from my sponsors and God. By now humiliation was easy to accept because God had broken my stubborn will in steps 6 & 7. Decisions were always made by God because, every time I made one, it went bad.

Acceptance and surrender were not weak things anymore; they became my strengths. The book told me it was a design for living that worked in tough times, and how true that is.

Steps 8 and 9 are where the greatest change, and the greatest joy came for me.  That's where the spiritual awakening really blossomed.

Thanks for this post, and blessings to all....
