I just read this today. I'd heard it long ago, but forgotten it until now. And look who wrote it!

Keep Us From Pettiness ~ Mary Stewart, Queen of Scots

Keep us, O God, from pettiness; let us be large in thought, in word, in deed.
Let us be done with faultfinding and leave off self-seeking.
May we put away all pretenses and meet each other, face to face, without self-pity and without prejudice.
May we never be hasty in judgment and always generous.
Let us take time for all things; make us to grow calm, serene, gentle.
Teach us to put in action our better impulses-straightforward and unafraid.
Grant that we may realize it is the little things of life that create difficulties; that in the big things of life we are as one.
Oh, Lord, let us not forget to be kind.
Amen.

I always liked this one.

Don't sweat the petty things.
And don't pet the sweaty things.

I needed a copy of the pettiness prayer and came upon your post. I was surprised to see its attribution to Mary, Queen of Scots. Later, I Googled "Pettiness Prayer, Mary, Queen of Scots" and found some more information. Unfortunately, it was not Mary, Queen of Scots, also known as Mary Stuart. It was a Mary Stewart of Longmont, CO, who wrote it in 1904. The explanation of the origin of the prayer can be found at o-dark-thirty.blogspot.com/2012/12/mary-stewarts-prayer.html
