More and more we became interested in seeing what we could contribute to life. As we felt new power flow in, as we enjoyed peace of mind, as we discovered we could face life successfully, as we became conscious of His presence, we began to lose our fear of today, tomorrow or the hereafter. Actually there is only one promise which is made in Big Book and it is the one that Ebby promised to Bill:
"My friend promised when these things were done I would enter upon a new relationship with my Creator, that I would have the elements of a way of living which answerd all my problems."
And before that it is said:
"I was to test my thinking by the new God-consciousness within. Common sense would thus become uncommon sense. I was to sit quietly when in dubt, asking only for direction and strength to meet my problems as He would have me. Never was I pray for myself, except as my requests bore on mw usefulness to others. Then only might I expect to revieve. But that would be in great measure."
