Ideally, both members of a couple in love free each other to new and different worlds.
--Anne Morrow Lindbergh

We cannot possess another's spirit, even though we may desire to do so while struggling to feel love. We must not block one another's invitations for adventure even though we fear being left behind. We won't find the happiness we long for if we've tied another to ourselves by strings of shame, guilt, or pity.

Being free to love, or not, is the only path to real love. A trapped butterfly soon loses its splendor - and life; likewise, a trapped lover quietly awaits the relationship's death.

Traveling separate, yet parallel, paths keeps a relationship vital. Bringing fresh ideas, favored hopes, and fruitful experiences to each other's attention is the enhancement a relationship must have to stay strong.

Let's not corner our partners but instead trust that real love is the promised gift of being free.

Hey Pappy... great posting...
(although the "invitations for adventure..." part does kind of scare me a bit.

LMAO BTY, ... ... ... an 'adventure' for me and the little woman could simply mean agreeing to eat scrambled eggs one morning instead of the old routine of having them 'over easy' ... LOL ... ... ... just what were you thinking that scares you ???, ... lol ... maybe I don't want to know ... ha! ...

LOL, Pappy...I was just talking about eggs with another member today! Now I am HUNGRY for eggs!!!

Oh, I meant just invitations for adventure which anyone I am seriously interested in may want to pursue with someone other than me... I am really joking on that one...

Actually, now things are much more better for me than what they were as far as all that is concerned because I know God is going to help me where romance (or lack thereof is concerned--) I don't really have time for silliness like romance. My main focus for most of my days has been on staying sober and I have only been able to do that by getting those steps done and still doing them and doing everything I can that I think God wants me to do. Oh, and I have been working more hours to try and make more moolah. I think God really wants me to be more independent and not a slacker and taking advantage of someone else in anyway--including financially.

Oh, shoot...now you've got me sceered, Pappy!
If I start sounding like one of you guys too much, then when I go back into "duh" mode, I may get called on it that much more.

Enjoy the ride BTY, enjoy the ride ... worrying about the future outcome of anything is just plain futile, it accomplishes 'nothing' ... ... ... this is where 'faith' comes into play ... AND simply knowing that you're do'n the best you can do ... noth'n to be sceered about, and I can't imagine 'that' making you happy, huh ... ... ...

You are exactly right, Pappy. Don't need to go around worrying about more things to myself over, now, do I?
