Remembering all those who served, especially those in my unit who died in battle - those on the battlefield and those who battled and lost once at home.
I love you all more today than I was able to then; you are not forgotten.
I come from a family of military service people....my grandfather, father and uncle were in the Air Force. My brother was as well. My aunt was in the Navy. I remember getting into a heated argument with my dad in the 70's about war. He told me if it weren't for people willing to fight for their country, we wouldn't have much of a country and he asked me if I enjoyed my freedom. (Being a teenager during that time, I didn't feel I had much freedom living at home and I was so boy crazy I didn't really pay all that much attention in my history classes, so was a bit ignorant about it.) A few years later, I actually talked to a recruiter (guess that is what they are called--see what I mean??) about joining the Air Force. I never did. My reasons were not the best for joining--I wanted to get out from my parents home at the time. I also thought I needed some toughening up. I was told by my future husband that I prob. wouldn't have made it through boot camp before I would either get kicked out or take myself out. I was a wimp that's for sure. Someone said "boo" to me--I either cried or ran or both.
