Finding out who I am not.

I love the program of AA. I learn everyday something about life, living and serenity rather it be challenges or blessings. Something I have realized in my fourth step is I am not the person I thought I was. Incomprehensible demoralization ruled my life and self perception until doing my forth step. What hit me during this process was that most of myself was a person created on false perceptions of reality. I am free from the bondage of a life based on a self that was based on a lie. I love that I get to work now on being my self and redefining who I am and how I want to be perceived.

I feel so blessed that I am a member of AA. Where else could I find a group of people who base there life on spirituality not dogma regardless of religious affiliation?

I missed this board and just thought I would share. I have heard in meetings over and over "the fourth step showed me who I was". I get to say "the fourth step showed me who I am not". If I were this person then it would be normal and I wouldn't put it in my fourth step because it would bring about no ill feelings or thoughts.

I hope everyone is well. I'm off Facebook and back on the board but that is an addiction for other meetings.

Great to see you posting again Liz ...

It is truly amazing when we work the program and start seeing the results of changing the way we think ... especially about who we thought we were ...

Glad you're here with us, Liz.  There is spiritual growth to be found here.  Thanks for sharing.

Blessings, Mike D.
