of AA at the bay and the winners were there with those who liked being on the team.  By rote we opened the meeting...we know the words by heart and we close our eyes and watch them being rewritten across the white boards of our minds and if we are still and listen the only other sound of the ocean against the rocks of the shore line is the peaceful hum of sober souls and spirits.  I anticipated the meeting and the group having not slept well last evening.  I can listen to this family I have gathered with on weekends for over 18 years and get all spiritual anxiety taken away and with that gone my mind, body and emotions slip into a calming rest.

The topic?   Honesty; one of the largest cornerstones to my sobriety and my daily recovery.  For me this is the topic that separates the men from the boys and I do want to be with the men's group.  Honesty requires the absence of fear and denial both of which I practiced in default knowing or claiming to no knowing anything about either.  I woke up in recovery largely from the lessons and work with my sponsorship on the subject of honesty.  I would approach those lessons after I learned that my greatest emotional character defect was fear.

Powerful meeting from opening to closing...this one will last again for days.  Thanks for letting me share.   smile

Wonderful post Jerry, ... thanks for sharing your experience this weekend ...

Honesty ... this was perhaps my most difficult challenge in sobriety ... and it is also what has brought me peace and serenity ...
