Just some nice news to report. I got sober in southern California 25 years ago and moved up here to the SF area about seventeen years ago. My old home group in SoCal is still going strong and many of the people I met there when I was new are still there. But that's about 400 miles between SoCal and SF so I usually only get back down there to see my family on the holidays, and then I often don't get to see my old AA friends because they are with their own families.
But I've been doing some work for a couple of clients in L.A. recently and I'll be spending a week back down there starting on Monday. That gives me plenty of time to visit my old home group and spend time with my old friends. Every time we do manage to get together, it feels like a reunion of survivors of some shipwreck. It's sooo good to see each other, and we're still here, still sober, and spend some time catching up. Really looking forward to this.
They'll really be glad to see you. What a gift to have the opportunity to visit them. Not all, but many of those who were in my home group when I first got sober have either moved away, or have passed away. I've always wished I could see them all together again. This should be a fun reunion. Enjoy!
