Last evening my wife and I attended one of our 11 year old granddaughters softball games. It was pink t-shirts and ponytails all around. I know that seems like a pretty ordinary thing to most normal folks. People do it all the time. But, this morning it really struck me how something so ordinary could be such a miraculous thing in my life. Today I know that this Program made it possible for me to be there. This Program made it possible for me to be alive and be a loving grandpa and participate in my family's activities. 26 years ago, none of this would've been even remotely possible. This experience is just one of the millions of gifts that have been handed to me from Heaven. I didn't earn any of them. All I did was reach out my hand and accept the gifts through the Steps. I guess that's why they call it "Grace".
Love it. I love this because I KNOW first hand that, had you not been blessed with recovery, you would be dead, in jail, or clutching a bottle being angry that all your family abandoned you and left you with only your one comfort - booze. Instead, you get the blessings of a full and abundant life.
