Quotes by George Carlin
My Dad died of alcoholism in 1994. George Carlin was one of my father's favorite comedians. Some of my fondest memories of my dad include times when he could relax, laugh at jokes he heard, as well as tell jokes--which he liked to do and he was extremely quick-witted until his drinking worsened and depression overcame him. He stopped laughing. I miss him so much. I am grateful to my dad for so many things and one of them is having a good sense of humor which I believe I got from him. Laughter helps me forget my problems--even if only for a few seconds--I can't possibly be upset during those seconds. I'm an alcoholic like my dad was and I have taken myself way too seriously for so many years. I have started to look up jokes to make me laugh and enjoy life more...
(......and yes, Stepchild, I am working hard on my 4th Step, too. , which is all the more reason for me to search for things which make me stay "up".)
LOL BTY, ... when I started reading these, my thought was 'this sounds a lot like George Carlin' ... ... ... other than his ruff language at times, I loved his humor ...
thanks for the post ...

LOL, you certainly know your Carlin, Pappy. I had to delete some of the spicier ones in between the ones I posted. I'll save those for some of the braver souls on here to post. (My mom may be reading this site, and I am still her little girl--albeit her alcoholic little girl. .
DID YOU, OR ANYONE YOU KNOW, EVER TAKE THIS CLASS IN SCHOOL?
DO YOU KNOW WHAT'S HANGING FROM THE CHAIN OR RUNNING UP THE POLE?
HAVE YOU EVER SEEN OR USED ONE OF THESE?
DO YOU KNOW WHAT THESE ARE?
HAVE YOU EVER USED THIS?
HAVE YOU EVER PLAYED THIS?
WAS THERE EVER A TIME IN YOUR LIFE THAT THIS WAS THE ONLY OPTION TO DRY YOUR CLOTHES?
DID YOUR MOM USE ONE OF THESE?
WHAT'S THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THESE TWO OBJECTS?
IS THIS A FAMILIAR SCENE?
DOES THIS BRING BACK GOOD MEMORIES?
DID HE EVER COME TO YOUR HOUSE?
DID YOU EVER HAVE TO SAY "HELLO" BEFORE YOU KNEW WHO WAS CALLING?
DID YOU EVER LAUGH OUT LOUD WATCHING THIS?
DID YOU KNOW... Those who were born in the 40s 50s 60s ,70s and early 80s are the last generation who played in the street. During our childhood we walked over a mile a day when we played & played hide & seek outside at night with no worries or fear of anything bad happening to us.
We are the first generation who played video games and the last to record songs off the radio onto a cassette tape. We learned how to program a VCR before anyone else, we were the first to play from Ata RI to NintendoWe are the generation of Tom & Jerry, Looney Toons, & Captain Kangaroo. We traveled in cars without seat belts or air bags, lived without cell phones and caller ID. We did not have fax machines, flat screens, surround sound, I pods, Facebook , Twitter, computers or the Internet, and through it all we had a great time.
LOL, I can relate to 'ALL' of these ... I even took 'typing' class in High School ... ... ... ... ... Where did the 'TIME' go ???????
Super Duper Gosh Gee Cool Wow Post, Pappy... All except the "high-tech" ones with the comparison questions regarding the cassette and pen and tv and Reynold's wrap, I either (or all)--know of, used, was aware of. And the Wile E. Coyote smashed-up scene was one of those I can still hear my Dad's laughter---although he didn't watch many cartoons, he absolutely LOVED The Road Runner one! Your posting brought back soooooo many memories and thank you for it! What a Blast from the Past, Daddy-O!!!!
Not Fiesta Ware, Mike D.....I have sold a few pieces of it when I run across it in my searching, though.
I remember eating meals off of Cornell and paper plates and when we were really special--we ate those frozen things out of the foil ones. As we got a little older, we weren't required to sit in the kitchen and have meals with our parents, so we gravitated to the family room where the t.v. was. I remember my folks getting those metal "t.v. tables" where you could place your plate on top. I just remembered one time, my brother had a big bowl of my Mom's delicious homemade chili beans. He didn't use a table, because he was going to eat those while sitting in our 70's recliner. Well, he sat down, he leaned back to unfold the chair and when he did that, the chair flew back really fast and his bowl of beans went everywhere. We were digging out beans from the sides of the seat for ages, it seems. I brought that up to my brother years later. He made a funny look and said he didn't remember it. I don't know how that could happen to someone and they forget about it. I hope I didn't embarrass him. I just started laughing about it writing this and tears came to my eyes. My bf just asked why I'm laughing so much. Maybe I'm sick to think that is funny, I don't know.
Fiesta Ware may have been too expensive for us even back then. I know it is expensive now. (Hey, you probably did have cable!)
