Answer: Spammers posing as reputable funeral home businesses and sending emails to people, expressing their "condolences" for their recent "loss" of a friend or family member and informing you of a special "Remembrance Ceremony" for the deceased on a specific date, which you are invited to attend. Just "click on the link". They do this in order to phish information from people. The funeral homes have stated that they don't send out anything like that.
My ex-husband's mother died a couple of weeks ago and I received an email like the above today. I thought it was legit and felt very good that someone in the family wanted me to attend. I didn't recognize the funeral home name, so researched it to see where it is located and discovered the above. All I have to say about that is "shame, shame, shame!" If I wasn't trying to be a nicer person I would say something like "there's a special place in for people like that." But I'm trying to be nicer and am trying not to say things like that.
