Me and a newcomer have been playing a little game. It's called turn it on it's head. Everytime they have a whinge, we look for one thing in the situation to be grateful for. grandpa's admitted to hospital.....there are people to look after him. That was the latest one. also heard a share last week. A man with 35years continuous sobriety ODAAT. He still comes to meetings....because he's grateful that the fellowship lifted him from the gutter and enabled him to become the man he is today. and me? Well in October me and the lass I've been seeing agreed to call it a draw. I'm grateful for the two years of fun, love, laughs, tears, pain and growth. ...and we're still buddies. Oh aye. I'm grateful to this fellowship for helping me arrest my decline into madness, degeneration, hurt and ever worsening active alcoholism. For opening my eyes. Showing me that there's a better way. Letting me find the balls to be me. And helping that ' me ' become a better lad and keep getting better. On a lighter note then....kitchen is remodelled, as is bathroom, utility room and linking corridor. I'm gonna have a bit rest from diy for a month. Someone told me I was lovely the other day. And I've been following the exploits of a bloke who is walking the coastline of GB unsupported, sleeping rough, to raise awareness of homelessness and raise money for ex servicemens charities. He set out about 550 days ago with the aim of raising £10k. He's just passed £155k. Done about 7000 miles about another 1000 to go. Look for him on facebook....Christian around Britain.

Hi Bill, I live in Iowa, USA.  I can easily relate to finding something to be grateful for in every seemingly negative event or situation in life.  Before recovery, I thought I'd had a very unfortunate hard-knock life and had been short-changed at every turn.  But, by the time I'd gotten part way through Step 9, I began to see that I'd been well taken care of and given blessings beyond my comprehension.  My complaining was replaced with prayers of gratitude.  I'd always had more than I ever deserved, and I finally saw it.  Thanks for putting gratitude at the forefront of my mind.

Blessings and Grace to you, Mike D.
