For those of you that haven't been around for a year or two, Dean made a recommendation to me a year or so ago that included the use of Neti pot and some Zinc ... ... ...
Okay, the rest of the story, LOL ... Yesterday I got up with some nasal congestion that was irritating at best ... by the end of the day, I knew I had a 'head cold' ... ... ... last night I went through everything we had for nasal congestion and drippy nose and headache ... ... ... took a bunch of stuff and suffered through the night ... this a.m., I thought, hey, Dean had told me what to do before when I had the problem and it worked ... Welllll ... 1st thing I had to do was find the Neti pot ... and hope that I had some saline solution with it ... it took an hour but I found it and the solution, and used it along with the Zinc lozenges I had next to it ... wow, wow, wow, the Neti pot cleared my head sinuses and I could once breathe again without all that 'pressure' ... ... ...
SO ... thank you again Dean ... (it works when you work it, LOL) ... ... ... seriously, I am very grateful to have this knowledge ... it may be a little unpleasant to use that thing-a-bob, but it does work ... and it's a heck of a lot better than walking around so daggum miserable ...

my gosh, my brain got stuck on the word "pot"... what the heck is neti pot? LOL
When I get like what you describe Pappy, I sometimes put a tea spoon of vicks vapor run in a small pot of hot water, drape a towel over my head and then lean over the pot... it clears me right up... where I can actually breath again. Would that qualify as a neti pot? LOL

LMAO John, ... ha, ... I had no idea what Dean was talk'n 'bout either ... had to look it up and when I asked the Pharmacist, they took me down the aisle to get one right off the bat ...
Do you REALLY want to know ??? ... ... ... ... Well, it's a small pot with a spout made to stick up one nostril ... ... ... you read that right, you stick the stupid thing up your nose, LOL ... ... ... mine holds about 8 oz. and you mix a saline packet (or 2) in warm water(distilled) in this pot and you hold your head over the sink, face left or right, and pour into one nostril with your breathing through your mouth ... the fluid flows into one side and out the other nostril ... (I hold one finger over this one to let the solution work its magic ... letting it drain slowly) ... then you repeat for the other side ...
The salt solution flushes all the mucus out and helps shrink the sinuses, thereby allowing you to breathe through your nose once again ... really works great for about 6 hours ... then you may need to repeat the process ...
RFLMAO, ... there's NO smoking involved, ... heehee

I must admit, "pot" threw me off a bit as well and I thought to myself "What the heck is wrong with these guys pushing pot on this site?" I stood corrected when I re-read that post yesterday and after reading your last post, Pappy, I'm glad it helped you so much but "Ewwwwww" and thank you for that very graphic description of using your pot.
