Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.
Thank you BTY! This reminds me of a AA slogan- ACT your way into right THINKING. FEAR has kept me from doing many things. My EGO- false sense of self, tells me, you can't do that or that isn't right for you. If I believe it, it becomes a belief and stored away. That belief paralyzes(sp) me and keeps me in my well known comfortable zone. The problem with that is my life stays the same and doesn't expand and there's no growth. I've learn my biggest FEAR is, fear of the unknown. The Steps walk me through ACTING my way into right THINKING. Taking the action and letting my mind follow. Trusting and relying on God and the Spiritual Principles laid forth in The Steps. The result, my thinking and attitude is changed and my comfort zone expands, therefore expanding my life.
Change involves risk, risk involves getting out of my comfort zone, going from the known into the unknown.
That'd be me, Mike B....Fearful of changing and stepping outside this tiny comfort zone which has kept me imprisoned for so long with negative self talk telling me "I can't, I can't, I can't". With baby steps and The Steps change is possible. I have seen that already in my life. I love your post and the AA slogan you posted "Act your way into right thinking".
