"Mountains viewed from a distance seem unscalable, but they can be climbed, and the way to begin is to take the first upward step. From that moment the mountains are less high. The slopes seem to level off as we near them."
I just finished building a house on a mountain. It took me 10 years from start to finish, not including planning, clearing the land, and excavating. It is a large house (5500 sq/ft). It is 750 miles from home, and I didn't get a loan to build it. And it is built on the top of a mountain, on a fairly steep slope. All these factors proved to make the project most challenging. I had quite a bit of fear about not finishing it, and fear about it not looking perfect. All of the fears subsided as long as I was working on it and making progress. I took time out of the equation. I found that I only got stressed when I created an expectation of a completion date. The house was finished this year and I'm really stunned at the result and even though I can recall all the phases of construction, and they are well documented in photos. I can't believe that It's done and that I was able to do it. There is only one explanation for that, We did it, me and my HP.

StPeteDean,
That is truly amazing!!! When I first saw it, before reading your post, I thought it was a picture out of a magazine! All of those stones fashioned into something so spectacular! You are very gifted and I hope my HP helps me have an abode as "humble" as that! (Nah, just kidding, I am content living in a small apartment or home. As long as I am sober that is.)
Thanks so much for sharing. Love learning more about all of you folks on here.
Hey Brother, ... this is totally awesome ... reminds me of a guy in Ohio that built a castle by himself, one heavy stone at a time ... he spend sixty some odd years on it ... carrying stones from a nearby river, by cart, to his building site ... it is, or was, a 'state attraction' back in the 60's ... my mom and dad took me and my sister to see it ... Congrats man ...
Nice quote BTY, ... there's a big message there just as Dean has shown by example ...
Thank you both ...
