My Happy Mug
Permalink

I purchased a mug at a nearby thrift store. It is divided in the middle and so it is really two mugs in one. It is a fairly large size one. On one half it has the word "Happy". You turn it over and on the other half is the word "Crap*y" (rhymes with Happy). When I was drinking, I felt pretty "crap*y everyday. Early in my sobriety I felt that way a great deal of the time. I was going through withdrawals and nervous and unsure about myself and whether I could even stay sober for any length of time. I drank out of the Crap*y part of the mug. Now when I use this mug,  I choose to drink out of the Happy side as I have learned since being in AA that all I have to do is take this "one day at a time" and not get overwhelmed with the future because all that I have is today. I have also learned that I can control of my emotions and I have the ability to choose how I am going to feel that day. I choose to be happy today!

You want me to tell you what you can do with your new 'mug' ??? ... ... ... No, not that, here, try this ... :

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe)

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.

Pour in the milk and oil and mix well..

Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.

The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!

Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT ! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).

And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

Love that BIG smile, Philipld!

"You want me to tell you what you can do with your new 'mug' ??? ... ... ... No, not that, here, try this" LOL Pappy!! I didn't know what to expect when I read this and was honestly scared to scroll down. I thought maybe someone hijacked your MIP account :) Thanks so much for the recipe. Did you come up with that? Never have heard of anything like it before. So thank you much for it! I just hope when I try it, that I follow your instructions carefully so it won't turn out "crap*y". :)

LOL, ... no, I can't take the credit for this one ... came across it years ago ... ya know, I've never tried it yet ... but if I did, I'd, for sure, put some paper towels under it, LOL ... I can just picture the stuff going everywhere and the 'cleanup' picture in my mind keeps me from trying it ... if you do try it, let me know, cause I may be missing out on my next addiction, LOL ...

You mean I am your mug cake guinea pig? I can't wait to try it now and I think I have all the ingredients. Gotta get through the pie, though, and I'll be making those little goodies I sent you the recipe for tonight's meeting, so it will probably be in a few days as I always keep some goodies for here.
Advice taken about the paper towels, and in fact I'll probably try and figure out a microwave safe barricade for it as I have a feeling, too, that the thing is gonna blow! And if it does and my barricade doesn't work, I am coming to Nashville, picking you up and bringing you back here to help me scrap off the stuff from the inside of my microwave. Hey, and bring a fork and we'll eat what is salvageable. LOL

Sounds like a plan BTY ... in fact, I really wish we could experiment together, LOL ... (my wife knows I'm 'harmless' now, so I think she'd allow it, LOL) ... ... ...

I was just wondering if you got the place cleaned up yet after the 'popcorn' turkey incident ??? ... ... ...

(Actually, the turkey is still uncooked and I have to bake it tomorrow. It is not as much fun baking a turkey four days after Thanksgiving.)
