Don't Eat The Fly

I watched the Everyone Loves Raymond show tonight where Robert, (Raymond's brother) is dating a girl who eats a fly. Robert doesn't believe it when Raymond tells him until he goes in her bedroom and sees frogs in an aquarium, stuffed frogs on her bed and frog posters on her wall. The girlfriend catches Robert trying to escape out her bedroom window. For some reason after this silly thing was over, I felt that I related to this particular show for some reason. I don't know if I was the girl eating the fly (with my drinking and putting nasty stuff in my body), the boyfriend trying to escape (me trying to get and stay away from alcohol) or the fly (me, who played the victim for so long and blaming everyone else for my drinking).

I watch too much t.v. Going to get some zzzzz's guys.

Goodnight,

Bzzzzzzzz

That is too quick, too funny, and too true, Phillipld.

Pinkchip... I woke up thinking "oh, no...I posted that Raymond show thing and everyone is going to think I am more nuts than they probably already do!" I appreciate your posting and thank you so much for making me feel I'm not losing my mind after all.

I found metaphor and meaning in everything in early sobriety. It was just my mind opening and forming ideas that were hampered so long by alcohol. More than anything it was my spirituality just blossoming because that had been shut down the most by my drinking. Sprituality is finding some metaphoric meaning through daily experiences. So...this is growth. I think your share is awesome BTY. I shared about overthinking in another thread but this is the kind that KEEPS you in the rooms and the program more than it drives you out. It's you finding your spirituality and searching for meaning in a good way. It's all good.

Jerry,
I think that is the first time someone can say what you did to me about the "nuts" part and for some reason I feel a bit "comforted" by it. :)
(Perhaps that make me nuttier for feeling this way.)
