Great post Mike H....And so true ZT. Nobody could ever reason with me...I had to be beaten to the point I got it..... G.O.D.....Gift Of Desperation...Was the answer for me. Alcohol made it clear for me....I'd had enough and gave up. It was the only way change could happen for me....I got reasonable. They mention something about this in the book....They knew something about the drinking game....You should read it some time robbie....You might see yourself.
Faced with alcoholic destruction, we soon became as open minded on spiritual matters as we had tried to be on other questions. In this respect alcohol was a great persuader. It finally beat us into a state of reasonableness. Sometimes this was a tedious process; we hope no one else will be prejudiced for as long as some of us were.

No, I guess you can't reason with a drunk. Even when sober, if denial is strong there is often no way through.
But alcoholics, drunk or sober, are capable of getting the message. They watch, they listen, they remember things said, things done. They see their drinking buddy, partner turn their life around and wonder how they do it. We sober ones, we plough the field, sow the seeds, and every now and then, a faint glimmer of hope germinates for the still suffering one, brings them to us and we can show them, by our example our message of hope.
Robbie...did you write the above based on your own experiences? If so, you are a very good writer and I have thought this before from your previous posts although I felt uneasy reading some of them. (Possibly your words hit a little too close to home with me). So are you now sober and dealing with someone who is an active drinker? No need to answer that as it is none of my business. However, if you are abstaining from alcohol yourself and watching the insanity from a sober perspective, you are seeing yourself the damage that can result once we partake in the evil crap.
I have checked this board to see if you have posted and have wondered how you are. It is good to hear from you.
