Thank you Mike D, I will write it down and hearing that you believe it is a message from God of comfort and assurance makes me feel even better about it. It is definitely one I want to remember.

I have heard in AA about "drinking dreams" that some have had after quitting alcohol. Last night, I had a dream about I was holding a shot glass.  I hit it against something and I looked to see if it was damaged. A crack started at the top edge and ran down all the way in a straight line to the bottom of it. I could actually see the crack moving in my dream. Very strange. I remember thinking I couldn't use the glass and I didn't drink. Then I had a dream I was flying. I have had dreams where I was falling but cannot remember any dreams where I was flying on my own. I had my arms stretched out and was soaring all over the place --just like Superman minus the cape--and I was looking down and everything was so beautiful below me. I remember thinking in the dream that I should be scared but I wasn't. I felt totally at peace.

I wondered if this dream was perhaps that I have more freedom and am more at peace since I am not drinking???

Good morning Betterthanyesterday, Thanks for telling us about your very interesting and meaningful dream.  I hope you don't mind if I tell you that your dream is not so strange.  I have found from my experience that God uses various avenues by which to communicate with us, and dreams are certainly one of those avenues.  I've had similar dreams myself, but He has spoken to me in other ways as well.  While I'm not into "dream-interpretation", it does sound to me as if He wanted to send you an important message of comfort and assurance.  Have you thought about writing it down while it's still fresh in your mind?  Thanks again for sharing.  Blessings, Mike D.

I'm a huge believer in dream symbolism and significance. I think that our subconscious minds are expert at relaying messages through our dreams because it's a time in which we are forced to listen to or see them. As an alcoholic, I will say that historically someone can give me all the rational messages and advice in the world and it's not going to stick because I "know better" than most people. (A symptom of alcoholic thinking, right?) When I dream something significant, though, I pay attention to it because whether it is coming from God or my own brain, I feel like it carries weight. Anyway, it sounds like your dream was peaceful and wonderful, and if you took that as a message to enjoy the sights and not be afraid, I say go with it! It certainly makes a lot of sense.

Mike D said what I was going to say, he beat me to it, LOL ... ... ... I agree with his thoughts totally ... God does communicate in ways we may never understand and I feel for certain there is a message here, if nothing more than you are 'breaking' the habit of drinking and it is giving you the freedom for you to move about 'worry free' to pursue the life He wants you to have ...

Absolutely loved it ... thank you

Love ya and God Bless,
Pappy

Good morning Betterthanyesterday!  I do hope you're feeling comforted and well taken-care-of because you really are.  God doesn't want any of His children to be fearful.  In the process of working the Steps, I eventually discovered that God always loved me and was always protecting me and taking care of me.  Step 3 was where I just really began to completely allow Him to do that.  I hope you'll continue to share your journey with us as we all travel together.  Blessings to you, Mike D.

Mike D ....
I can say for the longest time I didn't feel comforted or taken care of at all. That was when I was drinking, though. Since I have been sober, got into AA and opened a once hardened heart up to God again, I am beginning to feel both of those things. I look forward to working the steps because I want what you and others have and I will be glad to share as I am learning.
((((hugs))))

I have the same awareness as Adam that the dreams are the sub-conscious revealing thru metaphor something that is pertinent for me.  If your dream had been mine I would have seen the "cracking" glass as a metaphor that I couldn't drink what was in it and that the "flying and soaring on my own" as the metphor for freedom.  If I attempted to put both together it would come out the freedom from alcohol.   I like it.  My last drinking dream came when I was 28 years sober and it came because of outside temptations which started randomly showing up in my life. The dream was so realistic that I stood up at the side of our bed and asked my wife twice if I had left the house.  Since I was still in skivies and she a light sleeper I knew I hadn't; plus she's still with me...lol  smile
