Author Leo Buscaglia told about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.
The winner was a four-year-old child whose elderly next-door neighbor had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.
When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, "Nothing, I just helped him cry."
The Bible tells us to mourn with those who mourn and rejoice with those who rejoice (Romans 12:15). We all have burdens to bear. But one of the ways God helps us bear them is to send us the loving comfort of other people. If you want to experience and live out God's love for you, make your heart available both to receive love and companionship from others and to be a loving presence in someone else's life.
Father, thank You for the gift of love that You bring through others. Send me to someone I can encourage today. Amen.
