Thought I'd better check in - been a bit busy, moved house, joined the property owning classes again - at my age!
It's been stressful - broadband was down for two weeks - I've had a joiner working for me for a couple of weeks. Although I could do it myself, it's more efficient to get someone in who does this for a living. Had the floors in three rooms re built, roof repaired, new fence and gates, garage repairs, plaster stripped off one room, drains repaired, water leaks repaired, my buddy has done in two weeks what would take me more then 2 months.
Been keeping my meetings up of course, although I failed to get to my home group tonight due to my pushbike having a flat tyre.
Next thing on the horizon is my charity ride on Sunday - I've been neglecting my training so it could be a challenge to complete.
Top and bottom of it is Life is good, challenging, but good.
Toodles

Don't forget, I can do all the repairs you listed ... yep, just one me and no outside workers needed ... !!! ... I've done all these before AND I have all the necessary tools ... I was a Nursing Home Maintenance Manager at one time ... they needed an electrician, plumber, A/C man, carpenter, drywall man, door hardware man, etc. ... I could do it all ... Plus, I'm an old 'farm' boy, so your garden would be a big 'producer of vegetables' for the table ...

SPD it's been an education for me watching or helping ny buddy Skye Willie work. The power tools for a start. Two battery drills three chargers six batteries.
Why so many? One to drill, one for screwws.
Roughing nail gun.
Circular saw. Chop saw. Sliding compound chop saw. Bench saw. All used for diffrent tasks. Never used for wrong task.chisels honed before evry use. Handsaws are now disposables now tho.
A tool for evry job. Tools looked after. Even the hammer was a work of art. One peice drop forged with a streamlined shaft. I used it once when he wasn't looking. Felt good. Light but powerful.
But the best tool willie had was his head. Stop. Think. Be patient. Measure twice. Cut once.

Sounds like you've got a real carpenter for a friend, that's a valuable thing! I take pride and telling people that when the first ships came to this country, you probably didn't get on unless you were a carpenter and shipwright. When I visited Bermuda I read about 3 ships from England traveling to the north of the island, the wind blew one ship up onto the rocks ripping it apart. The other two ships salvaged what they could and offered to take on the men from the damaged ship. The captain declined and said "there's plenty of good trees on that island, we'll build a new ship and see you in a year". And they did just that, cut down trees, with hand saws, milled them into planks and built a ship with the salvaged rigging. Real men in those days. All these power tools and many can't match the skill or quality of these early tradesmen.
Oh wow BB and SPD, ... I never thought of all the tools I'd have to bring over if I moved in with you BB ... hummmm ... ... ... it would take a ships' 'shipping container' to bring them all with me ... hummmm ... guess I better stay here to make use of them BB, sorry man ... I was looking forward to changing my accent ... darn!!! ... Plus, it seems you've got most everything 'fixed' already ... ... ... oh well ... ... ...
