I have to laugh at the times Ive knocked myself out over a tough spot only to find out afterwards there was an easier way through.
--Robert Franklin Leslie

We receive messages throughout the day that tell us ways of doing things. The door to the store says, Pull. The red light tells us not to drive through the intersection. The cereal box says, Lift tab and open. Our car's gas gauge tells us empty. With these messages, we are given the guidance on which to base our decisions.

We can choose not to pull the door. Then well spend a lot of time and energy pushing until we finally read the sign. All that effort expended, just because we couldnt stop to get some guidance!

The Twelve Steps offer guidance for an easier way through life. We dont have to knock ourselves out over these Steps; all we have to do is follow the direction they give us.

How can I use the Steps to make my life easier?

Following instructions? That is for common people. I am unique and special!

Great reminder.

Yeah Joe, ... my thoughts exactly for a long time, LOL ... ... ... I can't tell you how many times I went to assemble this or that or open this thing or that or operate this or that when I found myself in complete utter failure, LOL ... THEN, I would give up and 'READ THE DIRECTIONS' ... ... ... WOW, it's so much easier that way ... like working the steps, I found out they work if I read the directions first, LOL

smilesmilesmilesmile Thanks Pappy. I had nice chuckle reading this post. I was reminded of an instruction on a juice container.

It read: "Refrigerate after opening." The little guy opens the container and then gets himself into the coldroom and locks it behind himself.

It reminded me of an alcoholic like myself. I followed the instructions but somehow I interpreted it differently from everybody else around me.
