The Four Keys to Happiness!!

smile  I was listening to the radio the other day!!  Two happiness experts were discussing happiness. They listed the four keys to happiness!!

Faith

Family

Friends

Work

To these one of the experts said that gratitude happened to be involved with each key.

Well, being a Miracle in Progress , I know that all of these things are not possible without sobriety......or maybe go better with sobriety?!

Maybe I have five keys......#1 being sobriety!!

I am grateful that my life has become measurably better since I became sober and work my program!!

Any thoughts?!

I agree with you Pablomoses, but I would say that sobriety is a requirement for me to allow faith to be a part of my life now(same thing you said) ... and I would clarify that a 'higher power', God for me, is necessary for faith to have any meaning what-so-ever ... ... ... Faith is crucial, and it matters, I think, just what or who you have faith in ... ... ... just a thought!

Well, I am happy, but I'm not sure that I have - or can have, all four.

I do have faith and family... but I cannot work any longer and truth be told, aside from my immediate family who pull double duty, I don't have any friends.  I'm not trying to be difficult, just humbly offering a perspective.

Hey Angell, ... you have me as a friend ... and you work here on the MIP board enough to help others in recovery ... the 'work' above doesn't necessarily mean 'income' type work ... and I think everyone here is your friend, which means you have quite a few friends ... as you said, it's a matter of perspective !!! ... nod.gif   nod.gif   nod.gif

Pappy, you are absolutely correct. I had fixated on outside work but you have reminded me that there is much greater work that can be done.

And to both you and Jerry, thank you and I will gratefully accept your friendship as well as extend mine. What I meant though... even here, we tell folks that while MIP is a wonderful resource, face to face meetings are imperative. Face to face though, if pressed to come up with the last time I had company or went to someone else's home for purely social reasons - or went to coffee, or... It is probably twenty-five years or more. I like my own company, that of my higher power, my wife, my father, my children... I don't get enough time with these...there's no time to develop outside relationships. Even now, I am thinking, posting, sharing...but my wife is home in ten minutes from work and I can't wait. :)

I'm just grateful now, that you are there to see your wife come home ... after the 'Pawn Shop' incident, you are lucky to be 'alive' at all ... I do believe God has a 'higher purpose' for you whether you can see what it now or not ... your shares here have been a great inspiration to me and I know you have helped others stick around to see what 'WE' are all about!!!

Love ya man and God Bless you,
Pappy

P.S.   I think you are starting to live up to your screen name's sake ... ... ...
