Hello folks! Every three months I choose a day and do an eleventh step ritual of mine. This quarter it looks like it'll be Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I was thinking that I'd share my ritual here and see if anyone wanted to join me in it. Anyway, it's an all day event: I wake up and meditate for some period of time less than an hour (I started years ago with twenty minutes and now do forty-five minutes). I then do whatever I want during however many minutes there are until the hour is up (in the beginning therefore, when I was meditating for twenty minutes I would spend the next forty minutes showering, relaxing, etc. - now I meditate for forty-five minutes and relax for fifteen minutes).
Then I start again; forty-five minutes in meditation and fifteen minutes relaxing for the entire day. I believe that the first time I did this I started with eight hours but now it's fun to get up just before dawn - Friday, for instance, dawn is 5:56am here and so I'll get up at 5:45 and start at 6am-6:45am and then 7am-7:45am.... until sunset which is 7:47pm (so my last session will go till the sun goes down...no sense quibbling over 2 minutes!)
Anyway, if anyone wants to join me at any pace you like and set for yourself - let me know what day works for you and we can be mediation buddies for the day. :)
What a GREAT idea ... ... ... But you ARE aware that the 'Good Book' tells us we should do exactly as you described above, weekly ... ... ... it's called the 'Lord's Day' and it comes every Sunday (before the Great Teacher came to be with us, it was called the Sabbath) (it was changed from the 7th day to the 1st day, in the 2nd Testament, to start our weeks off in the right spirit I think) ... this is the day to read and meditate and to not engage in 'work' activities (unless the oxen are is in the ditch ... meaning that emergencies are exempted) ... it is also the day we are supposed to concentrate on our connection with our 'higher power', God, and His will for what we should be doing with our lives ... (some call this worship) ...
This universe was created by and works in perfect harmony with God's will and it would be great if we mere humans could do the same ... but in His infinite wisdom, He gave us freedom to choose our own way ... and some of us have found that when we align our way with His, all things work out for the good ... and a weekly meditation and relaxation routine is something He wants us to practice, cause why else would He have recommended it to start with ???
Love ya and God Bless, Pappy

Thanks Angell. It is one of the most beneficial routines in my spiritual life. I normally select Mondays for this. I get up shower, breakfast. I got a favourite chair. I take my comfortable position and relax. The AA book gives me some definite and valuable guidelines on prayer and meditation. It is around these guidelines that I started and built my Monday. All I can say is that it is one the most wonderful things I have practiced.
Blessings of the day angelL I will be with you in spirit as I meditate each morning as my eyes open and on weekend bring my petitions again too the GOd. Of my understanding in praise and worship service with my family.Awesome job in seeking to improve and praying (meditating)for our HIgher POweRs will ...Peace and serenity to you

Rotfl! Thanks for that Philip... yeah, I know what you mean. It seems every Subway commercial they make these days is a variant of an old pickup line. :)
I am curious to know how it's going with those dogs of yours... have they calmed down some???
Well, there is only one dog actually. We had a dog staying with us for a while but our babysitting duties are over. As for Fluffy, as I had said the last time I talked about him, I concluded that it was an acceptance issue on my part - pg 449 stuff. So, I changed my mind.
I've come to conclude that most of the difficulties that I've had with him were my fault. I haven't liked the dog from the beginning and while I've not been mean to him in any way by human standards, I'm afraid that I unknowingly was very cruel to him by dog standards. Rather than feeling badly about it, I'm trying to channel that energy into making amends. He recognizes me as the alpha dog in the house and as mentally challenged as he is (and he IS mentally challenged) he's got to figure his place in the pack is forever tenuous if the alpha doesn't like him. His actions just reeked of insecurity...and I was giving him every indication that he should be insecure.
Anywho, we are buddies now. If I ever figure out how to post a picture to the internet, I'll post a picture of him meditating with me which he does every morning now.
I wanna see the picture brother...take it, put it in file, do your post and hit attach files down at the bottom left of this page...select your picture, click open and then click insert when the command appears just like that. White one is Sadie...Black one Chloe...neither meditate.
WOW, what a great looking couple of dogs Jerry ... ... ... yep, I can't be without my little 'Rose' ... when I'm in Home Depot, I found out she a real 'chick' magnet, LOL ... it gets hard to get what I came for sometimes ... the women, and a lot of men, go nuts over her ... ... ...
Great pics Angell, ... ... ... I love them all, but I must say the lake photo with the tent on the platform looks so surreal and peaceful ... and I had to let my mind wonder and picture just how you got that stuff out there ... I thought wading? ... then I said, no, must have been by boat ... ... ... by the way, where's the cat ??? ... LOL

Pappy: We swam out and then threw everything up on the dock. I drug and swam the plank out to allow the dog to swim to it, climb up and then, one foot on the plank and one foot balancing on the docks support beam - heaved Fluffy up. Cujo the cat chose to stay home. :)
Wow Angell, that sounds adventurous ... and my experience with cats, they don't usually care to swim, so Cujo was probably thankful not to have had to go along ... LOL
