A meditating moment

I was meditating on a private beach this past weekend and had an experience that I wanted to share.  My wife and I were the only ones there and prior to meditating we were watching a small school of minnows.  While still on shore, we tried to get closer but they scurried away again and again.  While my wife sunbathed, I sat in the water and proceeded to meditate.  The minnows returned and were soon all around me.  Twenty minutes later, larger fish appeared and seemed to have lunch in mind.  The minnows huddled around me, two of them went so far as to swim inside my bathing suit.  But here was the interesting part to me: As soon as my mind said, "Oh look, a big fish." The larger fish all swam away as if their life depended on it.  They returned again and stayed until the split second my mind noted them.  The moment that my mind was distracted momentarily by their presence, they left.  This happened three times in all.

Thanks Angell.
Meditation is a powerful part of our program and was heavily emphasised in the early days. They even had meditation meetings, along with beginners and speaker.
We have a meditation meeting in my home town. I attended once and spent an hour or so meditating with the group. The discipline of having the others there helped me focus. During the meditation I received a very strong and clear message.. "There is nothing to fear!".

I have never received anything quite so clear before or since, but I find, if I can be disciplined enough to practice, that meditation improves every aspect of my daily activities including sleep. I can see why the old timers put such great store in it.

God bless

Angell...we are all connected on the face of this earth and in the universe.   Hold on to your new awareness...more will be revealed.  I am glad that you had the experience and hope you will have some of the ones I have also.  Thanks for the picture of it.  smile

Thanks Angell. Gave me a great visualization of your relaxing time at the beach. Looking at the world throught the lens of a minnow....

I thought about this is my meditation time last night for a long time. I think I was trying figure it out. Not good for meditation lol... but it's nice to let my mind try I guess sometimes. This power greater than me... presents in ways that are not always just directly to me... I like to hear about stuff through the grapevine too : ) Thanks!

There is a power much greater than ourselves that orchestrates the music of our lives; both within and outside of us and our only requirement is to move to it and watch others move it and as we do it together that is called "the dance".    Fishes are others...smile
