Hello MIP, it's been a while. I check the board pretty much daily, but haven't posted forever. Right now I'm on the on the Oregon Coast, freezing my butt off as I listen to the waves crash and some frogs croaking. I am homeward bound from a visit to family in Northern California, Redding, actually. It was 100 degrees almost every day for the week I was there. One day it was 110. I could have stayed on the freeway and driven all the way home, but decided to detour out to the ocean. The ocean is the place that makes my heart happiest. I only get to the coast once or twice a year. Timed it so that I would arrive in time to see the sunset. Except that as I drew closer and closer, I ran into a huge fog bank. You could hardly see the ocean, never mind the sunset. But I can hear the waves as I type this, and two frogs croaking in harmony, feel a very cool breeze on my face. And I'm sober. Always before, up until two years ago, I would be passed out by now. When I make the trek to Redding, which has been an annual thing for a few years, hubby stays home. I could drink with abandon. And I did. I made a couple of meeting in Redding, chatted a lot with my HP as my son slept and we drove, and now I am going to fall asleep to the sound of the waves and harmonizing frogs. Night all. Thanks for keeping the light on.

Good to hear from you Nezy!  Sounds like a wonderful trip.  Nice to see you ending the trip in a spot of serenity and peace.  The ocean is a special place for me too.  As well as the sunrise and sunset.  It's moments like these that help re-charge the spiritual battery.

Hey nezyb, ... Great to hear from you ...

Not to take anything away from the East coast, but the West coast always seem to have more 'character' ... the waves are generally bigger and make the sounds and sights that much more enchanting ... your sharing of these sounds and sights send my mind to thinking, aaaah yes, what a comforting place to be in the moment ... you cannot see the beauty around you due to the fog, but you know it's there ... much like having 'faith' in God, you can't see Him, but you know He's there ...

Love you and God Bless, and be safe,
Pappy

Aloha Nezyb...great post!!  You didn't pass out and got to spend some time with HP's creation of which you are a part and therefore were in harmony.  I relate to sunsets, sunrises, ocean, sound of the ocean, peace of mind and serenity.  I also relate to the gratitude of the light still being on because...I can always find my way home also.   Love the metaphor.  Have a safe trip...remember to store the heat for when winter comes...((((hugs)))) smile

Sounds like you are in a good place. Being present in our own lives is almost as being present in our loved ones lives. Many times, for many years I was not present as I am today.
Grateful for your post and the images and thoughts it put into my head!!

Remembering opportunities to drink with abandon and not caring about the wreckage.......being at peace toady, sober today. Finding my HP in nature and the beauty of life. Thanks for the fellowship, I can almost hear the frogs croaking in harmony down here!!

Sounds awesome nezy. Very happy to read your post which reflects some good 11th step work. It's inspirational. I am at the beach now and will try and slow down to have more time with HP like you described. Peace.
