Yep. Went to the store for cigs and a beverage and what did I see? A 6 pack of the jolly old harmful. Thought about purchasing it. Can't. It wouldn't be enough, I'd have to wobble back for another. That wouldn't be enough, I'd have to stagger back for another. A case isn't enough. A thirty pack isn't enough. Went to a meeting, instead. Even though  I don't get the spiritual/metaphysical experiences that the others do, it doesn't matter anymore. It's a good meeting when the ghastly craving is removed. That's what counts.-AlcoHater

Glad you made it out of there okay :) I cannot tell you how many times I walked back to a liquor store 2-3 times after my original trip for more booze. The funny part is that I used to think the clerks didn't notice. For me, buying a small amount at first was my way of tricking myself into thinking I would just drink one or two, like a 'normal' person. Four hours later I'd be staggering back to the store to swipe my credit card for the third time of the night. And then I'd wake up feeling like crap. Hang in there! -A

Great job AlcoHater, ... ... ... really great job ... you did what I try to instill in my sponsees at first ... I tell them if they cannot call me, then 'play the tape all the way thru, to see where it ends up' ... you did exactly that ... you played the old tape all the way thru and saw where you would end up, drunk ... way to go man ... but next time please pick up that 100lb phone and call your sponsor ... or at the very least another alcoholic in your group ...

Well done brother!

The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.

The main thing is not drinking.

I'm glad your experience was a good one.
