Happy 4th of July! First and foremost as we all celebrate today in our respective ways, let us remember those brave men and women, both past and present, who have valiantly fought so that the people of the USA could enjoy so many wonderful freedoms! Thank a soldier they deserve the honor! My very own son is as soldier and there are too many other family members and friends who are/have been, so I do not take for granted any holiday that remotely honors what they have done for me/this nation.
And to all my friends here at MIP will be thinking of you today as well! This could be a great day to celebrate, as well. We all know that alcoholism is a life long disease! HOWEVER, for those of you who have enjoyed many mos./yrs. of sobriety you deserve to celebrate your independence from alcohol/drugs! It is a battle like no other and bravely you have won/are winning your freedom from this/these oppressive tyrant(s)! I honor you all! For those struggling.....no war was ever won without loss/scrapes, bruises, scars! Be brave, 'little soldiers' keep up the fight for the victory is sweet!
Have a great day everyone!

Thanks Wanda, ... I pray your daughter is still doing well or is better ...
i also will pray that our country will return to the one thing that made it so great so long ago ... One Nation Under God, with Liberty and Justice for All ... I feel most of our problems today are a result of forgetting why we became a great nation to start with ...
No, ... I am NOT looking to start any controversy here ... just stating an opinion is all ... thanks

The sway of alcohol over mankind is unquestionably due to its power to stimulate the mystical faculties of human nature, usually crushed to earth by the cold facts and dry criticisms of the sober hour. ---William James
Hey Pappy! I agree totally! And there are times when I really think/believe they actually had it easier!! And as far as daughter....advancing....a day at a time. More positive comments, even posting her sobriety days on her Facebook page. (She made a choice to go public!) And I get to see her today!!! :))))))
That's great Wanda ... keep the faith ... I've still got her on my prayer list ... I won't mention her name here, but if she wants to facebook it, that's up to her ... even though I don't recommend that since our traditions warn against going on public media of sorts ...
Hope you have a great time with her today ...

Independence Day is another day to honor those who serve the public welfare. These individuals, who sometimes forfeit their lives for us should not be forgotten or under appreciated. Thank you learning for reminding us all what our nation needs today. Recognizing and respecting other peoples service has fallen by the wayside these days. It certainly is not all about getting a paycheck and benefits. Those called to serve do so for a higher purpose than many understand. God bless you and yours, those who serve the public welfare, and their families, from me and mine. The United States enjoys its place in the world because of sacrifice and dedication.
