Thanks for your service Gentleman. Nice picture of ANC. my Dad is interred there. Arlington is my home town. When I was young guy I swam competitively on a number os swim teams from 6 years old through high school. For 4 summers I proudly swam for the Ft. Myers' swim team. The pool was right behind the O-club and backed up to the ANC. This was between '67-'72. I watched a lot a funerals from over the wall, and when we saw the Caisson Corp. next door to the pool pull out "Black Jack" we knew some top brass was being buried and we went down the hill to watch the ceremony, which often included a fly over. I remember talking my Dad (USN CDR RET RIP ANC) about what I saw, and he just smiled and said that was where he was going to be buried. 30 years later I watched and cried and oh the memories. I visited him las October on the 10 anni of his passing, felt like homecoming.

It is the
VETERAN

not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is
the
 VETERAN
not the reporter,

who has given us freedom of the press. It is the VETERAN
not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is
the
 VETERAN
not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is
the
 VETERAN, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is
the
 VETERAN
not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

I'll be
EXTREMELY proud if this email reached as many as possible. We can be very

Thanks Dad, GrandDad, Uncle Sam, Uncle John and all who have served.

I heard TAPS today again and cried.  I remember as a child living on Post TAPS was played when the Day Is Done and the Flag was lowered.  I cry because of those who have given their lives.

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the lake, from the hill,
From the sky.
All is well, safely rest,
God is nigh.

Thanks and praise, For our days,
Neath the sun, Neath the stars,
Neath the sky,
As we go, This we know,
God is nigh.

Fades the light; And afar
Goeth day, And the stars
Shineth bright,
Fare thee well; Day has gone,
Night is on.

Go to sleep, peaceful sleep,
May the soldier or sailor,
God keep.
On the land or the deep,
Safe in sleep.

Love, good night, Must thou go,
When the day, And the night
Need thee so?
All is well. Speedeth all
To their rest

As a mother of a soldier currently serving and a nephew whom I adore who is also currently serving this day bring some tears! Both went to Iraq. Both seen the horrors of war. (My nephew served in Kuwait, Japan, Korea as well.) I've worked with vets. from the Vietnam era, my father served during the Korean Conflict, and a brother at the onset of Kuwait, a grandfather (now deceased) in WWI. These are the backbone of our country!!! They believe in it, commit to it and will fight for it. And you better believe I honor the service men and women of this country!!! I don't take nothing for granted when it comes to the freedoms I enjoy and know WHO it is that has protected them. I am one of those who if I see a soldier in public in uniform I will extend some courtesy!!! I'm more than aware of those who have given their lives for me. Simply put.......Thank you for all you've done for me!!!!!
