im really struggling to keep it in the day at the moment. i have an alcoholic boyfriend who struggling. he been off the drink 5 weeks now and i cant stop worrying about when he going to slip again. it is using up so much of my energy i should be using on my own recovery. when i can stop doing this and just enjoy today we have a great time and i so happy with him and he is really trying and that all i can ask of him. any tips on how to stop this worrying and just enjoy now, regardless of what the future holds? i live in the country and my meetings are limited. i go to all i can, some weeks it 4 and the next it might only be 1 because i work shifts. i do talk to other aa members but i find them hard to relate to sometimes because they all a lot older and have very different lives and problems. i joined the al anon forum aswell and hope between the two i can begin to feel a little better
My sponsor told me to pray for God's will to be done for my wife as well as myself and for God's will to be done in our relationship ... he said to ask God to take our relationship and let it become what He/She wishes it to be ... After saying that prayer for a few months, we now have the relationship of a lifetime ... If God wishes your relationship to improve, then by all means, turn it over to Him/Her ... worrying about it will not do anything more than make you crazy ... (er ... LOL)
Love ya and God Bless, Pappy
