I'm so glad I found this site.  I'm in treatment now(just  beginning) and this will help supplement my recovery.  I don't have but one meeting around me and I drive quite a way to my treatment center.  I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and have an extra place to go.  I have been in recovery for several years and had some good sobriety but moved back home and found myself getting complacent and not going to meetings and here I am again....very ashamed and frustrated with myself but trying to keep my head up and keep moving forward...it's hard starting over but I will do what it takesblankstare

Welcome to MIP Pauliene, ... ... ... I would say the majority of us here didn't make it the first time around ... me? ... took me about ten trys before I had suffered enough to get totally honest with myself ... ... ...

Take Care and God Bless,
Pappy

Welcome Pauline. I think you will like it here. Pappy is kind of mean, but everyone else is nice.

Hey Pauleine,
I wanted to touch on the "ashamed" thing. I know its hard for an internet forum to remove "perceived" shame, but you have a disease that is putting you in bad situations. How far are you in the steps? By treatment do you mean treatment that uses the 12 steps? Please post often and let us know.
Tom

Tom has a great point ... I might further add, that in the 12 step program, we not only learn to live sober with others, but we also learn how to forgive ourselves in the process of recovery ... this is very important for healthy growth in AA ... so as most of us have been through the 'shame' phase, we have learned to cross that bridge and proceed to the emotional acceptance of what's done is done ... ... ... and we've learned to use our past to keep from repeating it ... it's a great tool we carry with us ...

(don't let our teasing each other throw you for a loop ... we do love our sobriety here and we love to let the kid in us out once in a while ... we are not a glum lot ... we insist on enjoying life)

Love ya and God Bless,
Pappy

Welcome. I'm relatively new to the board as well and have found it to be incredibly helpful in my own program of recovery :) Keep coming back to the board, post your thoughts a lot, and don't be afraid to ask for support if you need it. MIP is a great space to "be" among people who are in a similar boat at any given time.

Welcome Pauliene. Remember it's not how many time you fail but how many time you start over. I saw a quote, don't remember by who, that said: "Every try? Ever fail? Try again. Fail again. Fail better." You say you are willing to what it takes. That along with the desire to quit is a big part of the battle. Again welcome.

Thanks so much everyone...I have never received so many responses....it felt incredible. I don't have treatment today so it' was so nice to see all of you here. It's my second week in treatment and I have 2 weeks today of sobriety. I was more of a binge drinker....would usually go for a week or more before I would binge and this has been in the later years in my recovery. When I drank I wanted to drink for a couple of days with little sleep. Getting older has surely taking it's toll...can't quite do as I use to thank God. I went to my first AA in a while before treatment and the ladies their were wonderful. I will go again tomorrow before treatment and try to make a meeting on here sometime too. I guess I would say I'm on step one as I have been through this many times but wasn't taking it serious enough.... I have treatment on Thursday and 3 hours on Friday so alot keeping me busy which is what I need. We are going to move close by when we get our house sold so that I can have alot of AA community around me which I think will be helpful. Thanks again for all your support

Hi Pauliene!   Welcome!  I am starting over again as well...also new to this site!  I loved what Bob wrote:
