Humility has been defined as gratitude in the book "Pass it on." It's not the absence of pride. Many a nights I left the meeting place with the suffering AA brother firmly planted in my mind. I am not able to think of myself.
Recently, many drug addicts have come to me for help. I have no drug experiences, but I can most certainly pray for them and help with physical and emotional needs. Given the magnitude of the problem, God will use us to the maximum, in all areas, provided we are willing. Working with others has helped me to get rid of my selfishness and pride. The new man needs help and I have to be there to help.
If I cannot be there physically, I can still pray for him or her. This has safe guarded me and helped me use traditions more effectively especially tradition 10.
