Got home Fri. and all is well (after three weeks)... ... ... Got in long 'nap' yesterday and sat down today to watch Nascar race today and slept through the whole thing ... LOL ... woke up when they were presenting the trophy ... ... ...

Ann(my wife) is going to Houston, Tx this week on business, so I will probably try to make a quite a few meetings this week to get back in the 'groove' ... ... ... there was just too much going on for me to get to meetings while in Nashville, and my son's neighbor and good friend is a 'budding alcoholic', so I worked in some AA talk with him ... you know, no pushing what-so-ever, just letting him know there was an alternative to carrying a beer with him wherever he went ... I asked how it was working out for him to have to blow into a thingy, to start his truck to go somewhere? ... while I was there, he had a mysterious Monday morning illness that caused him to miss work a couple of times ... We all pretty much know that story ... He's really a great guy and spends a lot of time over at my son's house ... my son never drank in front of me, but I suspect he does when I'm not there ... I can only say that my son knows my story all too well ... I pray for him and his friend a lot ... and I told his friend to call me at any time of the day or night if he ever felt that alcohol was starting to make his decisions for him and if he wanted help in dealing with it ... (he also has the distinct signs of 'severe depression', which is something else we all know too well) ... ... ...

During my stay, I installed 45 new light fixtures, including all the 'Romex' wiring required to use them ... I argued a little with my son on this, but quickly just accepted his desire for these things(change-over to and adding many 'L.E.D.' bulbs) ... (they use a 'fraction' of the energy, wattage, to  provide the same light output your flourescent and incandescent bulbs do) ... His garage now has the light of an 'operating room' ... LOL

I also 'plumbed in' a sink in his garage complete with hot & cold water and drain ... it's been a while since I 'sweated in' copper piping, but it's like you never forget how to ride a bike, it was easy ...

I had to remove and reinstall his new garage door opener (whoever put it in was totally incompetent) ... AND he had rebuilt his old garage door opener, new bearings and gears, and had me install that on his other door ... (I remind you guys, my son is 'high-functioning' quadraplegic)(was an 'ace' Cadillac engine mechanic prior to his accident) ... it is amazing what he can do when he puts his mind to it ... but being 'wheelchair bound' has many limitations ... ergo, Dad comes and does the ladder work ...

Great to be back!

Love ya'll and God Bless,
Rog(Pappy)

P.S.  Later on, my son admitted to mom that he 'over-did' it on all the lights ... but he wouldn't say that to me ... LOL

Wow, Pappy! I know who to turn to when I am in need of a handyman ! Haha- I bought a drill a while back that's never been used because I couldn't figure the stupid thing out (yes- the drill is stupid, not me) and I was too embarrassed to ask someone ( I am 36... I feel like that's just one of these things I should've figured out by now lol!). What a great Dad you are to your son (and his friends).

Welcome back, Roger. This place hasn't been the same without you. We miss those daily quotations you're famous for, not to mention your humor. It's actually been quite dull around here since you left. I'm so glad you made it back home in one piece.  Life is good.

Thanks Col, ... We have to thank AA for 'this' dad now ... ... ... your 'dumb' drill needs to be charged 1st, then there should be a button on the side that when pushed in, should cause the drill to operate in a 'clock-wise' rotation or when the other side is pushed in, 'counterclockwise' ... ... ... If your drill has an outer ring toward the front, that will be your 'torque setting' and/or torque range for the type job being done ... ... ... then you may have a top button that will be the tip 'speed' control ... ergo one for 'screws', 'slow', and another for drilling holes 'fast' ...

I painted a ceiling after installing some fixtures last week and found that a 'mixing device' with 'blades' on it, attached to my drill can be invaluable when stirring paint from an old paint can, or any paint that needs stirring prior to use ... Caution! ... do not give in to the urge to pull the 'trigger' on the drill with paint dripping off the tip of the stirrer ... cleanup is a 'bitch' ... sorry, but it's true ... and that leads to kicking one's self in the donkey ...
