So I had been struggling for years with my drinking, I think it really hit me when I broke up with my ex of 8 years and moved on my own.

I was finding the alone being difficult, so I descided to become a chef .. the only problem with being a chef is,  when you would leave people want you to drink, and wednesday quickly

became sunday, I live in kind of a party area of my city, so I would start at one place wind up somewhere else and then repeat until sunday, when there was no where left to go but my own

bar at my resturant. There is always someplace that party night is wed, thurs, fri, sat.

I am happy to say that two weeks ago on sunday, feeling hungover as hell, not remember anything but remembering being kicked out of the bar that I was at, I said enough is enough!

Hung over and now unhappy being the a chef . In the middle of my shift I threw off my jacket and walked out after working for two years. Then I went home got completely shitfaced and I haven't drank since. so its been about two weeks now, I'm feeling great. I have even been able to distance myself from my drinking friends.

Who even tonight I basically had to yell at telling him I wasn't going out, I don't want to be tempted, and just responded well if you want to go for some sodas' you'll know where we will be.

I'm compeletly focused on my art now and I went from selling one painting a week to selling 15 in the past two weeks, I'm making more money now, and my head is clearer and it was the change I needed. I'm so happy to be focused on my art now!

I've even read a book and working on my second. So i'm very happy to be clean and sober for 12 days which is amazing because I never went two day in the past 6 years before.

woot woot woot! Murray is back

Welcome back Murray, and congrats on the 12 days.

If you are truly alcoholic, the booze was just a symptom. For myself and many others we have to take care of the causes and conditions, which is what the AA book and program helps us do.
I would suggest digging into it if you are alcoholic and wish for long term recovery.

Well for me it a combiniation of being in the resturant and being in a downtown city, when I would start on wednesday, there a club that takes me under a min to walk to that there busy night is wednesday, so I'm reframing from all activity that is going to pressure me to drink.

I'm finding the working out and reading are helping me keep busy.

as well as the painting.

@philpld - I don't know about you but I got a monster of an appititte , I think my body is just to used to all the calories I used to consume. But i'm non stop eating.
