Hi, all. what's shakin'? Here's a nutty one for ya. A couple of years back, I did a step 9 with a woman I left for (all together now...) ALKY-HOL! She was a little too complicated for me at the time, and my thirst helped matters none. Well, a couple of weeks ago, I get an e-mail from her and...SHE WANTS ME BACK! She said she never really stopped loving me after all those years. And to complicate things further, I WANT HER BACK for the same damned reason! Thing is, tho, right now that isn't possible, but it makes me more determined than ever to stay sober and keep trying to get out of this f#%king hole I've fallen into. She deserves a good man, and there's no way I can be one with alcohol in the picture. And if it doesn't come to fruition, well, it will be a cross for me to bear! Thanx!-AlcoHater (and yes, I STILL HATE ALCOHOL!)

Take a read of our third step prayer..."Lord I offer myself to thee to build with me and do with me as thou will. Relieve me of the burden of self that I may better do thy will. Take away all of my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of thy power, thy love, thy way of life. May I do thy will always.  I  keep it a bit simpler because my HP doesn't like long windedness as I use to practice.  "Place me where you want me...tell me what to do".   God knows who I'm speaking with and what I'm ready for.  We have that kind of vertical relationship.

When you built that loving relationship with your HP you will be ready to build one with another of HP's creation and you won't want to screw that up.

Good luck...smile

Wow Alco, ... ... ...

Not sure, but I was thinking you had a couple years clean and sober ... maybe not ... By now, if you're continuing with your meetings and if you have a good sponsor, you should be in the 'rockin' chair' as the 'Truckers' call it (safe from the front AND rear) ... ... ... If you're still on the 'big' emotional roller coaster, then you are correct in leaving this woman alone for now ... at least until you get a good handle on things ...

I'd like a better description of the 'Hole' you think you're in ...

Am I the only weirdo that doesn't hate alcohol? I hate what it did to me, but now I look at it as a liquid that many, many people can enjoy in moderation, just not me.

Chris, no you're not alone.  Having gone through the 12 Steps and had a Spiritual Awakening, I don't hate anything today.  I'm actually grateful for the liquid that brought me to my knees and the desire to change.  I never hated alcohol, I hated myself.  Today, I don't hate myself.  Therefore, It's hard to hate anything.  Alcohol just isn't for me today.  I like the life I have today.

Alco- yes, miracles will continue to blossom as you stay sober and work The Program.  People will continue to migrate back into your life.  Keep in mind, the hole you're in was of your own making, to get out of the hole we need HELP and  CHANGE.  Change brought on by completing the 12 Steps of AA.  The way out of the hole is 12 Steps away.......
