30 Days!!!

Dear MIP Community

I just wanted to announce that today is my 30th day of sobriety. Complete and total, glorious sobriety. This is the longest I have gone without a drink in ten years. I also feel compelled to mention that I spent the past seven days in Las Vegas - of ALL places - for a conference. In a weird way I almost felt like I was being tested, given the lack of open container laws and total indulgence of the strip. There were times when I felt like everyone was drinking but me - and watching from a sober perspective made that okay. At one point a co-worker of mine became obnoxiously drunk and I kept thinking to myself that I was so thankful it wasn't me this time - that now it is my time to like myself and be respectable in public. I only had one evening where the craving hit me hard, but I prayed and focused, and it quickly passed. I also told my wife during our final dinner officially why I am no longer drinking, and we both agreed that I am a better partner and person without booze. Anyway, I feel great, and have been looking forward to this post all week. Thank you all for your support. I will indeed continue coming back.

-Adam

That's awesome news, Adam. You must feel excited right about now, maybe even a bit optimistic -now that you hit the 30 day mark.  I certainly hope that sentiment continues. Keep that momentum going.

Did you make any meetings while in lost wages? There are over 800 meetings a weeek there.

Congrats to you!!! I went to Vegas after not drinking for 90 days. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but it was challenging at moments. I got a tattoo while I was there to celebrate my recovery. Every time I look at it I just smile and smile. :)
