alcohol hangover vs drug hangover

Sorry to annoy you all with this again. I' m just trying to wrap my head around it. Someone said to me they would rather work with someone the next day whose had 2-3 stubbies (beer to relax and be able to sleep) then with someone whose had a drug of some kind. Is there any real difference in the effects the next morning to their work capabilities (handling heavy duty machinery eg driving trucks, bulkers, mechanics)? I thought they would be the same as they're both mind altering substances. Tracey

I have read that some drugs stay in the system longer than 2 or three stubbies would - probably 3 or 4 hours for the liver to process that amount of alcohol. But as an alcoholic having just 2 or 3 was beyond me. Maybe I would turn up hung over after 1 or 2 dozen stubbies (if I turned up at all) and I would still be under the influence. Police regularly catch drivers in the morning who stopped drinking the night before but are still over the limit.

Such an issue is not of great moment in the scheme of things. More pressing is whether or not I am alcoholic and if so, what must I do to recover.

God bless,
MikeH.

There's really not enough info here on who, how long have they used or drank ... how old are they and safety related work issues ... and so on ...

BUT I agree with Fyne Spirit, ... ... ... more to the issue is whether or not I'm an alcoholic and if so what am I prepared to do about it ...

Personally, I would not want to work with anyone who takes drugs or drinks and is in a position where the safety of themselves and others is of major concern ... One slip is all it takes to change or end someone's life ... even the nurses that dispense medication at hospitals and nursing homes just as an example ... doesn't have to be a job of running 'heavy equipment' ... one little misjudgement at a lot of jobs can cause irreparable damage ...

Hi Tracey,

Yes that is a hard one to answer.

I might need to ask the night crew at the local fast-food place that always screws up my order if they where drinking or druging the night before confuse

I'll report back to you!

Lol Rob thats funny. Like you all have been saying I'll focus on where I'm at. That's enough for me to handle anyway.
