Was going through some old music files and was listening to songs from this band DOUBLE SHOT, I worked with for a few years. The words of the song Swinging Doors, an old country standard, was about the story of our lives .This was late 70's I was just thru my 2nd divorce, still years away from surrender and gettin worse by the day.The guitar player in the band was a very close friend, played in our first band together in 1961 and many others afterward. He didn't make it,died of alcoholic complications about 5 years ago,.The lead singer is debilatated now ,a little older than me,bass player ended up with breast cancer and I made it out alive, through the grace and mercy of my Higher Power.I played in a rock band after this band and was the same scenario ,people were fallin out around me,My very best friend committed suicide after a heavy night of partying and the scene was getting very brutal, rip offs, death, people turning on each other and the downbound train kept rolling.Playing music today is such a blessing even thought there are many frustrations I truly appreciate making it through the storm. When I think that it sure wasn't any help from me getting to the point of surrender I know based on the evidence that there is always HOPE. As long as WE don't take that next one,a certain death certificate for most of us,we have an opportunity at LIFE,one better than we have ever knwon.I am who I am today because of who I USED to be.I wouldn't recommend that journey, but the God of my understanding always had a plan, for me to be all I was intended to be but the details were left up to me.If you are new here, just coming around,or just coming back,WELCOME,Just For Today YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE .If you been around for awhile WELCOME,thanks for the help each day..There are no more Swinging Doors and barstools for this old swabby, not gonna wonder "where im gonna live when I get home" or be part of its "crying time again ,your gonna leave me".All songs on a set list but with so much a part of a devastated life. Its not how much or what we put in our bodies that makes us sick, its how we react differently than others after that "first one"Truly grateful I am blessed and have a program that teaches me how to live after I no longer take that first one.A Higher Power that is the focus of my life above all things to the best of my ability..Feeling especially grateful this day as I look back at the shades of yesteryear, that sometmes seem like yesterday and at others light years ago....smile   Think you have to copy/paste the YOU TUBE URL into your browser, still haven't quite figured how to upload files here........

Hey Mike, you guys weren't half bad ... I always liked that kind of music ... of course I was raised near Nashville ...

Your post reminded me of the ole Hank Williams, Jr. song where it asks 'why must you live out the songs that you wrote?' ... ... ... which is what nearly all the country singers do ... thank God many of the songs are good stories ... ... ...
