Im broke. Seriously broke. Embarrassingly broke. And im down to three cigarettes. So i thought for a bit about quitting. Seriously considered it. The health benefits, the monetary benefits, the spiritual benefits (because quutting takes some serious self discipline). And i, being a good alcoholic, decided to perpetuate my useless self destructive habit. So i just finished scouring the apartment for all the quarters i could find. 3 packs cost 16$ (with tax) and i have exactly 15$ (i havent checked the car yet by the way).
And you know what? This reminds me of the amount of time & energy & money i spent searching for my next fix. Like really? Im going to wait until 11pm to walk (saves gas) to the 7-11 so i can pay for cancer sticks in quarters without worrying about holding up a line? Priorities priorities. SMH
[edit: 20.40$ for 4 packs, all paid in quarters]

Theyd be more likely to throw you on a "DASH" diet (and no, thats not a diet where you throw a 'dash' of candy in with every meal) or you could go vegan!!!!

BUT, I could not go one day without milk ... I have to have my dairy ... does vegan mean dairy is okay ?, just not meats? ... I've really got no clue ... I must have my milk, cheese, eggs, ice cream, yogart, butter, and such ...

Well at least can see the insanity in some behaviors now. You really aren't that bad though.
If you ever get to the point of resorting to panhandling in front of the 7-11 for cigarette $$ then you need to take a serious look
Obviously smoking is not good, but don't beat yourself up about it. They tell us not to try to change too much at once and focus on the drug/alcohol addictions.
You will quit the smoking at some point if you stay sober. Always love to read your posts and the brutal honesty and humour!

Python- vegan eliminates all foods/drinks that come from animals or are produced by animals. (i could go vegan if it didnt mean no cheese. I can give up everything else. By the way this includes chocolate since it contains butter/milk)
the Dash diet is a nice diet with a wide range of foods you can eat and is meant to control blood pressure.
And rob, thanks for the encouragement. Im around 6 months now and im starting a spiritual fast next week. So im slowly eliminating sugar/caffeine products and thought it would make sense to quit the cigarettes. Maybe next time. Progress not perfection.

It's what I grew up with, LOL ... hard to forget ... the VW buses all painted up with daisy's and 'peace' symbols ... the '60's really were a great time to be alive ... (and in your teens)
And to have a group of guys making music that 'blew the world away' and got eveyone's attention ... and of ALL the names they could have come up with, they chose to call themselves the "BEATLES" ... of all things ... to name themselves after an annoying insect ...

I do the lemonade detox a couple times a year, I didn't think about the spiritual aspect until I was a couple days into it, then I realized how calm and closer to God I felt. It was really easy to change my diet after the first fast.
My first few years sober I drank a ton of coffee, I just slowly lost interest in being the "jacked up". I slowly drink about 16 oz a day now. I don't think you can totally eliminate sugar, but once you do the fast I think you can greatly reduce it.
Keep us posted!

I was doing it because I needed to... and yes, I really do for medical reasons... but lately I sense that I'm truly starting to WANT to stop smoking... so a quit date is about to be set and then I'll go one day at a time with it...and try not to harm myself or others in the process.
I was once told... The 12 Steps is suicide Prevention, the !2 Traditions is Homicide Prevention. I'm going to be digging deep into both of them once I put the cigs down.
Dear Neo....Whats gonna kill ya first??? THAT is the question! Booze? Drugs? AHA! Theres what really matters! Bless ya! Love, Lady Eli ps. you guys are so much fun XD
