It is not necessary only acceptance. The day after he didn't die, he did die and my brother was leaving while in company of some of his family who would have before been much more comfortable being miles away. We all, the family were born within this disease and no one escaped being affected...some of us drank and now don't and some of us still do and some of us can't any more. Such is my brother. I never drank much with him because family relationships were toxic and we were insane. Drinking would have led to much more than unacceptable behavior between us...we visited those behaviors on others until some of us stopped drinking, sat before the knees of others much more sober and sane than us and learned there is a life worth living that is beyond our wildest dreams and compulsions to ever drink again. He didn't drink or use today and I didn't either.
Thank you God and AA and the family groups...Free at last...Free at last!! Thank God I'm free at last!!!! ((((hugs))))
